Effective May 2026

iCog is a memory system. The whole point is that it holds things you tell it. We treat that the same way you would: carefully, with as little surface area as possible, and never as a product to sell.

What we collect

Account information. Your email, sign-in credentials, and any profile metadata you choose to provide. We use this to keep your iCog yours and to send transactional messages.

Memory content. The conversations you have with iCog, the things you ask it to remember, and the embeddings derived from them. This data is the service. It is never shared, sold, or used to train models that other people can access.

Usage metadata. Anonymized timing, latency, and error information needed to operate the system and diagnose problems. We do not build behavioral profiles for advertising.

Device information. Browser type, operating system, and IP address when you visit the site. Used for security and abuse prevention.

How we use it

We use your data to provide the service: to remember on your behalf, to retrieve what's relevant to a current conversation, to consolidate your memory during nightly dream cycles, and to integrate with the AI tools you connect (Claude, Codex, ChatGPT, others).

We do not use your content to train shared models. Personal models and adaptations remain scoped to your account.

Third parties

iCog uses OpenRouter for LLM inference and Gemini Embedding for vector representations. Your queries pass through these providers as part of producing a response. We do not store data with them beyond what is necessary to fulfill a request, and we choose providers that commit not to retain content for training.

We host on infrastructure providers (currently Vercel for the landing site and a managed PostgreSQL provider for memory storage). These providers process data under standard data-processing agreements.

Storage and security

Memory content is stored in encrypted databases. Embeddings are stored alongside the content they describe. Access is authenticated and scoped to your account. We use TLS in transit and at rest where the platform supports it.

Your rights

You can export your memory at any time. You can delete individual memories or your entire account from the iCog interface. Deletion is permanent: we don't retain backups beyond what's needed for disaster recovery, and backups roll off within thirty days.

If you're in a jurisdiction with specific data rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar), those rights are honored. Contact us to exercise them.

Children

iCog is not intended for use by anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll remove the account.

Changes to this policy

If we change how this policy works in a material way, we'll notify you in the iCog interface and by email. Continued use after a notified change constitutes acceptance.
